At Southport Psychology, we are committed to using a “scientist-practitioner” model to guide our clinical work. We feel very grateful to have been taught clinical skills by excellent teachers, mentors and role models over the course of our careers. However, we do not believe that practical experience is enough. We also make sure that our treatments are based on good research evidence, and regularly attend conferences and read scholarly journals to stay up-to-date with the latest findings in our field. We also see value in being engaged in research activities ourselves, and have regularly shared our work in various books and journals, and at numerous conferences and other venues.
